This program is designed to be run from Windows in a screen mode showing 256 colours or greater.
Find it, Fix it is designed to help develop the concepts underpinning the risk assessment process. It clearly separates into three stages:
|
identify: |
here the hazard (e.g. knife, chip pan) is spotted by a simple point and click; |
|
assess: |
the user simply answers the question, 'What could happen', a selection is made from a menu (e.g. cut, burn); |
|
control: |
a control method is chosen to be applied to the risk (e.g. put away, watch over). |
Once in a room the user chooses between assess and control.
In the assess mode the first task is to identify the hazard by simply pointing and clicking. When a hazard has been identified the program zooms in. From a menu, the user assesses the likely injuries (e.g. cut, burn) from a menu. When this has been done correctly the program zooms out and the hazard has been removed.
In the control mode, first a control method has to be selected. Once this has been done the user applies it to a hazard by pointing and clicking. If the control is appropriate to the risk the hazard presents, then a short animation shows the control being applied.
